NEVER BEEN ON A RALLY?

Why not come and give it a go for a weekend with the Derbyshire Centre?

WHAT IS A RALLY?

If you are unsure what a rally is, it is a gathering of friendly people from all walks of life, ranging from families with children, couples, retired people, people on their own and people with their dogs. They all have a common interest in wanting to make the most of their time spent in their caravan or motorhome.

Some rallies have organised walks, games, sporting activities, evening socials with quizzes and entertainment on offer for you, although it is entirely your choice if you want to take part. Others are quiet and relaxed. We always enjoy a chat and a few laughs and perhaps a drink or two and it's a real opportunity to make new friends.

The people that organise and run rallies are known as Rally Marshals, who are fellow ralliers. They will greet you when you arrive, explain the pitch choices and tell you where the water and toilet disposal points are, plus anything else you need to know. On most rallies, electric hook up is not available, however you will find that you can manage for the weekend comfortably using a leisure battery and gas. Some people choose to supplement their electricity with a portable solar panel. You will also need to use your own toilet facilities, however there is toilet emptying facilities and fresh water available.

Prices obviously vary depending on the venue, but can be as low as £13 for the weekend. The optional social is charged for separately to cover any costs involved.

So if you want to get more out of your time in your caravan or motorhome, give it a go and book on a Derbyshire rally. You'll be made very welcome.

On registering with us you will be sent a copy of the Derbyshire Centre Programme, which contains full details of all the rallies being held throughout the year by the Centre. Decide which rally you wish to attend and book online. You will receive an email confirmation within 48 hours.

Yes, we know it's hard to make the first move, but be assured you'll be given a warm welcome when you attend a rally with the Derbyshire Centre. Give it a try and your weekends will never be the same again!!

We look forward to welcoming you on a Derbyshire rally field in the future.

Rallies are usually held over a weekend running from Friday until late afternoon on Sunday, but some are longer and some are further afield or even abroad. Rallies may be held in a quiet field, or even in a location where you wouldn't normally be allowed to visit with your caravan, such as in the grounds of Hardwick Hall, Newstead Abbey and the Chatsworth Estate. Have a look at our Rally Programme for a summary of the rallies being held by the Derbyshire Centre this year. Holiday and New Year rallies are also held as well as often during Bank Holidays, half term breaks or in the summer.

The rally programme is arranged by the Centre Officers and Committee and the rallies are run by members, all of whom are volunteers. They give up their time to provide enjoyment for you and it is their way of 'putting something back' for the good times they have enjoyed.

'Flag', is normally held on Saturday evening or Sunday morning; this is the formal part of the rally at which forthcoming rallies are advertised, Rally Marshals (the people who run the rally) are thanked for all their hard work, and competition winners announced.

The Rally Marshalls will be available throughout the rally to make sure you get the most out of the rally and to answer any queries you may have.

Firstly, you need to join the Caravan and Motorhome Club; this entitles you to attend any rally held by any Centre (details of which you'll find on the Caravan and Motorhome Club website or on other Centres' websites). You can register with any Centre (hopefully the Derbyshire Centre!) but you do not need to be a Centre member to try a rally.

Then just turn up at the venue on the appointed day. Full details, including directions for the rally are on the web page for each rally. When you arrive at the rally, look out for the yellow DCC signs.

If you are still unsure about rallying or would like to know more about what the Derbyshire Centre can offer, please email us; our email addresses can be found from the top menu on this page under "Contact".

Personal data you provide is collected and processed for the purpose of booking your attendance at Centre event. We assume any personal data you provide relating to other individuals is done so with their consent.
