Monthly Overview
As we enter the “School Holiday” Period it’s made me think that we are now reaching the end of my first year as Chairman of our fantastic centre. Scary to think it will be twelve months ago I submitted my nomination and how much of a fantastic news story the past year has been on the rally field.
I am now focusing my time on the upcoming AGM which will be my first as Chairman and is a little daunting to the say the least. Nominations have been opened and I’m glad to report we have had enough volunteers to carry our centre on into next year, thank you.
Please look out for further information being regarding the AGM.
The 63rd Annual General Meeting of the Derbyshire Centre of the Caravan and Motorhome Club will be held at 14:00 on Saturday 21st September 2024 at Middleton Village Hall, Main St, Middleton, Matlock, DE4 4LQ.
Rallies
Unfortunately, I have not attended as many rallies during the past two months due to house renovation works and also an extended holiday, but here is a run through of the rallies Derbyshire Centre have ran during July and August.
Ashford Farm Cottages, Ashford in the Water, Bakewell Carnival.
A lovely pictures site within walking distance to the village of Ashford in the Water and the town of Bakewell. The weather was mixed but stayed dry for the majority of the procession which was enjoyed by many of the ralliers followed by a relaxed social outside the marshals units. Moor Edge Farm, Crich Fete Rally A popular annual rally that is usually well supported with it being walking distance into the village of Crich where we always book this rally to co-inside with Crich Fete where the village put on a great day of activities and entertainment on the village green with plenty of refreshments on hand.
Parsley Hay
A very scenic location, great for walks and cycling and close to Buxton and Ashbourne. Although the weather was not the best the marshals put on a game of “Wet Bingo” which seen ralliers take part from their units with Katy Unwin shouting the ball numbers, fun had by all.
Shireoaks Minors Welfare
Always a popular rally with lovely walks along the canal. Unfortunately, I had to cancel my space here but from the feedback received it was a great rally again had by all who attended.
Matlock Rugby Club
A well supported rally close to Matlock and also close to Cromford Steam Fair. The Saturday night’s entertainment was entertaining to say the least. A fun packed evening of laughs and enjoyment!
Pop Up Pirate Rally – Knowle Hill, Ticknall
This bank holiday rally was well supported and a fun packed agenda from start to finish, the photo’s and videos posted on Facebook and the feedback received show just how much thought and effort went into this rally – Well Done everyone!!
Eyam Carnival 2024
Always well supported and this year with no exception, in fact the busiest we can ever remember with over 50 units in attendance to support the efforts the local villagers go to make the popular Eyam Carnival such a success, here’s to more years of this fantastic venue!
To Finish…
It’s been a pleasure standing as chairman for this first year and look forward to more with the support of the committee who do a sterling effort to keep the centre going, without these volunteers we would not be able to enjoy our past time as we do –
Well Done Derbyshire Centre Committee 2023/24.
Regards,
Scott Wanless Chairman, Derbyshire Centre CAMC
