Monthly Overview
December seen our centre hold two of our major events of the year. The first being the annual Christmas Party Rally, held at the Ukrainian Centre, Weston on Trent and The New Year Rally at Matlock Rugby Club.
The weather repeated to be a constant challenge thought the month with lots of widespread flooding across the whole of the UK. We also seen some heavy frost and even snow presented itself.
The Committee meeting was held via teams on 14th November where it was agreed that the Chairman would look into having some printed centre clothing that members would be able to order and pay for. (update to follow)
Due to the festive period, it was agreed there would be no committee meeting held in December.
Rallies
Christmas Party Rally, Weston on Trent was held 1st -3rd December.
The rally seen 27 arrivals and 2 cancellations/non arrivals. Due to the weather forecasted of below freezing and snow I feel we did well with these numbers. We also seen a well-attended afternoon Childrens Party with daytime visitors. A big thanks goes to the Derbyshire Centre Committee for all the hard work and effort that made this a roaring success, from sleigh making, decorating and cooking without your input we could not put on such great rallies. After transforming the main hall into our winter wonderland, the committee hosted several events including Friday Social, Saturday Breakfast, Crafts Morning and of course both the afternoons Childrens Party which had a visit from Santa and the evening Party which all went down well with extended thanks to Simon’s mum for her help in prepping the food.
New Year Rally, Matlock Rugby Club was held 29th December – 1st January.
Referring to the feedback, posts, pictures and video’s shared on social media can only prove what another fantastic New Years Rally was had by all those who attended our annual New Year Rally. The weather was against at the start of the rally after some heavy downpours the carpark was under water in sections, but the marshals did an amazing job getting everyone pitched safely. The whole rally was filled with food from breakfasts to three course meals and accompanied by entertainment, theme nights and of course seeing in the new year. The marshals also had some other challenges to face with several of them becoming unwell, but with the help of other volunteers they all managed to get through it. Thanks goes out to everyone involved.
Poolsbrook CAMC Rally, Due to be held 15th – 17th November 2024
Cancelled due to changes in the sites opening dates we have had to cancel the planned rally from the schedule and our Rally Secretary is currently looking for an alternative venue. Details to follow soon.
To Finish
January sees the centre roll into another year with a great line-up of rallies for us to look forward to and enjoy with the majority of the earlier ones already fully booked with waiting lists, this continues to prove the success of Derbyshire and the popularity of venues we visit.
We have some big events planned in the near future including Easter at Chatsworth which is already proving to be very popular rally as we are full of the initial allocated places. This is an invite rally to Nottingham Centre and we will be working on making this a great success by planning events and activities for all to enjoy over the bank holiday weekend at our next committee meeting.
Our next committee meeting is to be held Tuesday 27th February 2024.
Happy New Year.
Scott Wanless
Chairman, Derbyshire Centre CAMC
