Monthly Overview
April Showers! – Lots of rainfall around the country again this month (feel like I’m just repeating myself!)
Sadly, due to the weather we have had to postpone our Open Forum from the Cloverfield’s rally due to a waterlogged field.
We have now re-arranged our Open Forum to be held at our rally at Osmaston Polo Ground on the Saturday 22nd June at 10-11am. All members are entitled to attend the Open Forum even those not attending the rally. Refreshments will be served.
We sadly were informed of the passing of Karen Butt following her battle with illness. Her funeral was held on Tuesday 9th April at Alford Crematorium followed by her wake at The Bacchus Hotel.
Her life was celebrated by her friends and family and attended by many Derbyshire Centre Members.
Rallies
Buxton CAMC Club Site Rally was held 12th – 14th April
The rally at Buxton’s CAMC Club Site seen another FULL rally for Derbyshire with a waiting list and 30 spaces booked and paid for with 1 Non-Attender due to a last minute change in work commitments.
The weather was better than had been which seen us arrive in nice dry and sunny weather. We were welcomed by our Marshals Simon, Andrea and Darcy. Saturday Morning was catered for by our marshals holding a breakfast they had prepared for everyone at their caravan. The Sausage Cobs and Hash Browns went down a treat along with the unlimited Tea and Coffee (although Cocker Spaniel Flash decided to eat my Cob I was saving!!) A lot of effort that went in to making it such a successful and well attended morning, even though Saturday had decided to bring back spells of the rainy weather! The whole weekend was well presented, thought out and delivered from the moment we arrived to when we departed.
Well done team Toplis!
Flag was delivered by Rick Unwin where a moments reflection was held in memory of Karen Butt and also to Steve Parish on the first anniversary of his death.
Cloverfield was due to be held on 19th 21 st April (CANCELLED)
Sadly, due to a field visit to assess the ground conditions the decision was made to cancel the rally planned at Cloverfield. The treasurer made refunds to all those booked on the rally.
To Finish…
We are still seeing a positive trend in rally bookings for this year with the majority either Full or with Limited Spaces Available.
Even though we have had a couple of rallies cancelled in the past few months we are still in a strong position.
Our Rally Secretary Kim bond has spoken to me and confirmed the 2025 programme is taking great shape with some new and old venues being added to the plan and I look forward to the full programme being shared in the future for what 2025 has in store for Derbyshire Centre.
To finish on a positive, we have started to see summer finally start to break through and hope it stays for the rest of the season.
Our next committee meeting is to be held Tuesday 14th May 2024.
Regards,
Scott Wanless - Chairman,
Derbyshire Centre CAMC
